| Tommy R. Padilla |
| Tommy Padilla was born and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico and was well known throughout the community. He was a graduate of Alamogordo High school and played on the varsity baseball team. Tommy had a love for basketball, but he didn't realize it until after he had graduated. There wasn't a pickup game or tournament that Tommy could turn down. Tommy was a very loving and caring person. He was more gratified helping or giving something to someone who was in need or less fortunate. Everyone that knew Tommy was touched by him in some way. In December of 1996, Tommy passed away after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In 1999, the Padilla family started the Tommy Padilla Memorial Basketball Tournament as a way to keep Tommy's name alive. |
